From January 21 to February 4, the 15th Toshali National Craft Mela-2021 will be held in Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar. Artisans, weavers, sculptors from all over the country will participate in this Mela & show their traditional and contemporary handicraft and handloom products.
The Toshali National Crafts Mela is hosted by Bhubaneswar every year at Janata Maidan. Mela seeks to conserve and nurture India’s traditional art forms, handicrafts and handlooms, and to raise awareness and educate people about the skills and artistic complexities involved in manufacturing the products.
In view of this, and in the sense of the COVID 19 situation in the State, the requisite steps are being taken to organize the Mela to facilitate the marketing of craftsmen’s and weavers’ products within the parameters of the COVID 19 Guidelines set out by the State Govt/Central Govt.
This year, the mela will accommodate 250 stalls in Handicraft & Handloom, of which DC (Handlooms) / DC (Handicrafts), GOI will support 80 weavers/artisans from different states of the country. Similarly, DH & CI, Odisha and the Directorate Textiles and Handlooms, Odisha will support 110 artisans and 60 weavers from the state.
There will be arrangements to provide assistance to the differently abled visitors from 3 pm to 5 pm. Cultural programmes are not planned this year to prevent the gathering, and the mela will be open every day from 02:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
All related arrangements like fire brigade, protection, first aid service, ambulance, ATM counters, free accommodation for craftsmen, wheel chair, etc. will be available.
