No Namz at Taj Mahal : Supreme court Order

The Supreme Court today dismissed a plea challenging the Agra authority’s order debarring non-residents of the city from offering Friday prayers at a mosque in the Taj Mahal complex.

A seat of Justices AK Sikri and Ashok Bhushan said that the Taj Mahal was one of the ‘seven miracles of the world’ and individuals can offer their petitions at different mosques too.


The request of has tested the January 24, 2018 request go by the ADM (City) Agra which said that the individuals who are not inhabitants of Agra, would not be permitted to enter the mosque arranged at the Taj Mahal for offering standard petitions on Fridays on grounds of security.

Candidate Syed Ibrahim Hussain Zaidi, leader of Taj Mahal Masjid Management Committee, Agra, told the seat that few voyagers visit Agra consistently and the request of ADM (Additional District Magistrate) (City), Agra limiting them from offering their supplications at the mosque inside the Taj Mahal was unlawful and discretionary.

“Why for such petitions they ought to go to the Taj Mahal,” the seat stated, including “There are different mosques too. They can offer their petitions there.”
