Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Das said on Monday that Covid-19 vaccine is likely to reach the state by January 30th. “Discussion is going on between the center and the state government, as soon as guidelines for the process are issued we will start the process of vaccination. I strongly believe it is likely to reach by January 30th” Shri. Naba Das Said. Front line workers including doctors will be the first to get the vaccination as per the protocol. In the second phase, Elderly people above 50 years will be vaccinated the minister stated.
“The serum institute has stocked nearly 5 million doses of vaccine but our state cant avails it directly. It will reach here through the center, it all depends on the share our state would get in future. We have already completed the dry run for which we can begin the vaccination programme here even at a short notice. The center has approved two covid 19 vaccines Covishield and Covaxin” Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET) CBK Mohanty said.
Chief Minister Shri. Naveen Patnaik spoke to Serum Institutes CEO in July last year and the CEO assured the Chief Minister that vaccines would be provided to Odisha on a priority basis.
