On Tuesday, Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) airport began operating the much-awaited direct flights from Jharsuguda to Mumbai and Bengaluru. SpiceJet will operate two Boeing flights four days a week. The flight will begin at 10.30 am from Mumbai and reach Jharsuguda on Tuesdays at 12.30 pm. It will leave Jharsuguda at 1 pm and will arrive at 3.10 pm in Bengaluru.
Similarly, the flight will begin at 3.45 pm on the same day from Bengaluru and will reach Jharsuguda at 5.40 pm. At 6.10 pm, it will depart Jharsuguda and enter Mumbai at 8.35 pm. The flight will depart from Mumbai at 9 am on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and arrive at VSS airport at 11.10 am. At 11.40 pm, it will leave Jharsuguda and reach Bengaluru at 1.50 pm. Likewise, at 2.30 pm, the flight will depart Bengaluru and will land at 4.40 pm in Jharsuguda. At 5.10 pm, it will leave Jharsuguda again, and hit Mumbai at 7.30 pm.
The timetable in this regard was provided by the airport authorities. Minister of Health and Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kishore Das, who was present on the occasion, announced that the state government had agreed to provide Rs 100 crore for VSS airport development. Furthermore, the aerodrome has been allocated 155.30 acres of land.
