BHUBANESWAR: HERITAGE SITES TO SOON GET QR CODES – INFORMATION WILL BE JUST A SCAN AWAY.
In a bid to make culture and history of the city more accessible, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has partnered with the Centre for Internet and Society – Access to Knowledge (CIS-A2K) to start the ‘QRpedia’project’.
QR codes will be installed on temples and other heritage structures which on scanning on smartphones will lead to Wikipedia pages with detailed information of the monument, its history, pictures and other details of the site they are visiting, in the language of their choice. CIS-A2K will help in generating content about the monuments which has been named ‘Edit-a-thon’. They have received about 193 articles written by 26 editors in 13 different languages.
