Saint Achyutananda Das described Dooms Day in his famous book “Achutananda Malika” in the 16th century. This film is about a man from the village of Satavaya who has been trapped by the sea. “This film stresses that it is a harsh reality and that because of it, people are losing their lives and livelihoods”
The film, starring Pitobash Tripathy in the lead, explores the effect of climate change and how it affects a man who has lost his family and his home to the sea. The film illustrates the harsh reality of climate change and rising sea levels, putting into perspective the villages on India’s eastern coastline. Mr. Nila Madhav Panda is recognized through his movies for addressing environmental and social issues.
The film was previously selected at the 51st International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa in the Indian Panorama Section.
