New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The Delhi police on Thursday arrested journalist Abhijit Iyer Mitra for making derogatory remarks on Odisha and its culture. He also made derogatory remarks against the Odisha MLAs.
The cops later cross examined him at Nizamuddin police headquarters in New Delhi.
“I am in the famous Konark Temple premises. This is not a temple but a humple where people are humping. See these sculptures… Women with women, men with animals. Can this be a holy place? Not at all. This is a conspiracy against Hindus by Muslims who want to keep us down. Jai Sriram. In our new Ram temple, such obscene sculptures will not be there.”

Sources said Iyer will be created under the steady gaze of Saket Court in Delhi after a therapeutic examination.
The Odisha police are probably going to take the writer on travel remand to Odisha, sources included.
Then again, writer Arti Tikoo Singh, who went with Iyer alongside previous Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda amid Odisha visit, has denounced the capture.
“So Odisha Police has captured my companion @Iyervval for his humorous amusingness on the grounds that it “hurt religious conclusions”. This is the opposite side of Indian majority rule government where religious supposition supersedes and beats all other central rights. We stay stuck in Middle Ages. Disgrace,” she tweeted.
In the mean time, Odisha Assembly Speaker Pradip Amat on Thursday endorsed the proposition for a House Committee to examine into the unfavorable comments of Patra.
Pioneer of Opposition Narasingha Mishra will be the executive of the House Committee. Debi Mishra, KV Singh Deo, Pramila Mallick, Arun Sahoo and Sanjay Das Burma are alternate individuals from the Committee.
