The annual Konark Dance Festival and Sand Art Festival, organised by the Tourism Department, will begin from December 1.
After successfully kicking off the opening of the Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018 in Bhubaneswar, the state tourism department is working overtime to ensure that its twin flagship events of Konark Festival and International Sand Art Festival continue to raise the bar further.
The five-day Konark Festival will showcase classical dance performances by eminent artistes coming from different parts of the country.
Durga Charan Ranbir & Group from Bhubaneswar will present Odissi, while Rama Vaidyanathan & Group, Chennai shall perform Bharatnatyam. Similarly, Shreelakshmy Govardhan from Kerala will perform Kuchipudi and Anwesa Mohanta & Group, Guwahati will present Sattriya.
Besides, the eighth edition of the International Sand Art Festival, with Padmashree Awardee and globally renowned sand artist SudarshanPattnaik as its brand ambassador and chief curator, will be held coinciding with the Konark Festival, on the pristine Chandrabhaga Beach, three km away from the Sun Temple. The event will span the entire day from 10 am to 10 pm.
