three-month ban on entry of tourists and visitors to Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara will be imposed from May 1 in view of the mating and nesting season of crocodiles.
“The National Park will remain closed for tourists and general public from May 1 to July 31 because of breeding and nesting activities of estuarine crocodiles,” informed DFO of Rajnagar Mangrove (Forest) and Wildlife Division, Bimal Prasanna Acharya.
According to Forest department sources, entry of tourists during the nesting and breeding season of crocodiles may disturb the tranquil environment of the crocodile habitat.RELATED POSTS
