Odisha government has decided to set up a riverine port on Mahanadi River at Akhadasali village under Mahakalpada block of Kendrapara district.
Boss Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday led a gathering to issue the demand for proposition (RFP) for the port to four engineers, who had submitted applications because of the demand for capability (RFQ) glided prior.
The port will be worked in two stages. In the primary stage, two compartments will be set up at an expected cost of Rs 2,110 crore for transportation of 18.43 million ton freight for every annum.
The transportation limit will be expanded from the 18.43 million ton to 45.88 million ton for every annum later on, educated sources.
In the main stage, 175 hectare of land will be required and for increment in limit another 125 hectare land will be utilized.
The port will be associated with the National Highway No 5-A (now NH-53) and Haridaspur-Paradip railroad line for transportation of load, included sources.
