Renowned Oriya novelist and short story writer Chandrasekhar Rath died after a protracted illness at a private hospital here Friday. He was 89. Rath had been nominated to receive Padma Shri award for 2018.
A native of Malpada in Bolangir region, he did his postgraduation in English from Canning College, University of Lucknow, and was presented a D Litt from the Utkal University of Culture in 2012.
He had wrote a few books, for example, ‘Yantrarudha’, ‘Asurya Upanivesh’ and ‘Nav Jatak’. He had created short story collections, for example, ‘Samrat O Anyamane’, ‘Aswarohira Galpa’, ‘Aneka Banyapare’, ‘Bikripain Phulamala’ and numerous books on writing and feedback. He was exhibited the Orissa Sahitya Akademi grant for writing in 1977 and 1978 for articles and fiction separately, Sahitya Bharati Award in 2011 and Atibadi Jagannath Samman in 2010. Individuals from different strolls of life paid their last regards to his mortal stays at his living arrangement.
